Office & Solas Community Arts Photographic Exibition
To
celebrate this year's World Refugee Day the Galway Refugee Support
Group ran a photography competition. The competition had entries from
10 different countries including, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Nigeria,
Burundi and Chad.
The exhibition pairs photos of and by asylum
seekers with their own words and gives insight into the world that is
home for asylum seekers living in State Direct Provision accommodation
in Galway city.
With the collaboration of the Galway City Arts
Office and Solas Community Arts the photographs were launched in a
stunning exhibition in City Hall on Thursday the 20th August.
The
launch was a great success which included live entertainment,
refreshment and a few words from the Mayor.
The exhibition is now on display in the City Hall during normal hours
Monday through to Friday.
