Statistics & Information

The most spesific statistics relating to GRSG's target group are taken from the 2006 census. The 2006 census reports that:

•    There were 10,565 foreign nationals, out of a total population of 65,382, living in Galway city
•    In the wider county, including Galway city, the number is 17,339 out of a total population of 225,705.
•    This translates to the migrant population in Galway city making up 16% of the total population, considerably higher than the national average of 10%.
•    On a county wide basis, including Galway city, the average is considerably lower at 7.6%.
•    This indicates that most migrants in the area are being attracted into Galway city, probably due to a greater supply of employment opportunities.
